Is Your Desk Job the Source of Your Back Pain?

In modern times, many people find themselves working a desk job where they are sitting in the same position for roughly eight hours a day. This does not do great things for your spine! Thankfully, there’s a number of things you can do to take care of yourself! Today we’d like to discuss three things you can do to better take care of yourself. First things first, you want to make sure that you are sitting up straight in your chair. This also includes making sure the rest of your body is comfortable too. If you’re in a position where your back is straight but your neck or legs are uncomfortable, you won’t stay in that position for very long. So make sure that your chair and desk are set up so you can have good posture while still being comfortable for extended periods of time! Sitting up straight helps distribute pressure more evenly across your spine.
Secondly, it’s important to take breaks from sitting to stand up and walk around every 30-60 minutes. Even a quick two minute walk can help! The more movement, the better. If you’re able to take a longer walk during a break, that can help as well.

Another thing that you may want to consider to help yourself at work is reevaluating what you do when you leave. Setting aside time to be active and stretch your body through exercise such as yoga can have a huge impact! Not only will exercise help you sleep better and give you more energy, but it can help you feel better during the work day as well! We also recommend coming in and getting your back adjusted frequently. As you do this, it will help your spine be in a healthier state. When you get adjusted and workout on our machines, our goal is to help you find long term relief, not just relief that will help for a day.

There are so many things you can do to help your body feel better while working at a desk job. These three things just scratched the surface! Don’t be afraid to come in and make a plan with our chiropractors to help you feel better again!
