What to Do After a Car Crash

Car crashes- something none of us want to experience but something that happens approximately every 60 seconds in the United States. Have you ever thought about what you would need to do if you found yourself in a car crash? Here’s a list of actions to take in order to best take care of yourself and those around you if you find yourself in a car crash situation.

~Stop. Stay close to the location of the accident, if safe.
~Assist injured people, but do not move them.
~Call the police and ambulance immediately.
~Remain at the scene until the police arrive.

~Turn on your emergency flashers or use flares, if safe.
~Warn approaching vehicles of the accident.
~Obtain the other driver’s name, address, driver’s license number and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
~Record facts about the accident: distances, weather, circumstances, locations, time of day, etc.
~Obtain the names and addresses of all witnesses.
~Ask witnesses to sign a statement about the accident.
~Keep notes and information confidential.
~Do not comment about the accident to anyone.
~Do not admit or sign anything.
~Don’t say, “I have insurance”.
~File an official report with the police.
~Give the police the facts, not your opinion. Statements you make may be used against you as an admission.
~Make a complete report to your insurance company.
~Consult a lawyer. (Call us for the names of attorneys.)

These are just a few starting points after finding yourself in an accident!

This is the Utah law: In every auto accident, when one of the drivers has a Utah-issued auto insurance policy, you are automatically covered by liability and/or medical benefits.
Don’t be fooled…
Serious or costly injuries are not always apparent at the time of the accident. Some injuries and internal and do not always result in immediate pain. In fact, most injuries are soft-tissue related (muscles, ligaments, tissues, etc.) and are not usually detected by X-ray alone. At the Alpine Spinal Rehabilitation Center, using the ProAdjuster and MedX, we can detect hard-to-find injuries and we are able to test for soft-tissue injuries within +/- 1% degree of accuracy.

We will give you a free post-accident evaluation- whether you have insurance or not. We are auto accident experts and provide adjustments and rehabilitation. We will do everything we can to eliminate your pain and keep you out of pain using:
Gentle chiropractic and computerized instruments adjustments (using ProAdjusterTM) and massage therapy.
MedXTM computerized testing and rehabilitation which isolates and strengthens specific damaged muscles and ligaments.
Your free post-accident evaluation includes a spinal screening, X-rays, adjustment, passive therapy and a report of findings on your next visit. Then we will be able to move forward and make a plan to help you get healed and feeling your very best!
